Lately I’ve seen a lot of content on social media regarding the vending machine business.
I’ve always found the idea of starting a vending machine business interesting due to its lucrative potential and scalability.
That being said, starting a vending machine business requires cold calling, personal visits, networking and the ability to acquire locations to place your machine.
I’m no stranger to cold calling, as I’ve done tons of cold calls during my time working as a salesman at BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
However, not everyone has the skillset to make this business work.
Personally, I find it much easier to procrastinate on business ideas that require other people to work, as opposed to business ideas that you can execute on your own.
Taking the first step is the hardest in any business, and it is imperative that a business model allows you to take action immediately and offers no excuses to prevent you from starting.
I’ve come to the realization after selling on Amazon for almost a full year that it is very similar to the vending machine business.
Both businesses capitalize on the convenience factor, and business owners profit from providing value.
Unlike a vending machine business, however, you can start and operate an Amazon business all by yourself without having to talk to anyone to begin making money.
When you stock your Amazon store, you are taking on risk because there a wide range of factors that could go wrong with your investment.
Your inventory could be lost, stolen, or it might just not sell.
You might have to sell it at break-even or at a loss.
That risk is the reason why you are rewarded with profit.
Nonetheless, people love to shop via Amazon Prime due to speed and conveinence.
Shopping online has become a way of life for most Americans.
In fact, most Americans buy everything they need on Amazon.
Vending machines only service a certain local geographic area.
To scale your vending machine operation, you will need more machine and more locations.
Your profit margins will be much higher in the vending machine business than with Amazon FBA, but you will be dependent on acquiring new locations and more machines in order to scale.
With Amazon, you can begin scaling right away.
You can tap into Amazon’s futuristic logistics network and get your products into the hands of customers faster than ever before.
All you need to focus on is sourcing profitable inventory, buying it and loading it into your Amazon FBA inventory so that it has a chance to sell.
While things might not always go your way, if you put in the work and don’t give up, you are certain to turn a profit.
With an Amazon business, you can sell virtually any kind of item and are not limited to convenience foods or drinks.
The possibilities are limitless, and that is why I believe this business is far superior than the vending machine business for beginners and those who want to scale their operation to the moon.
